I have intentionally waited until now to post this, on my personal blog instead of my Facebook account because only people who care enough about me will be reading this. And, this will be my post-election thoughts rather than a brainwashing entry. So, yes, this is just my way of sharing my views with you, and not to unload any craps onto you.

Again, I must say, I am so glad that the election is finally over. I have seen good friends becoming all emotional (yes, I am not kidding), angry, overreactive over the past few weeks. I do know they care enough to feel involved but, I also wonder have they been neglecting their day work while posting videos online every 2-3 hours? Through my observation, most of whom been posting about the GE actively on Facebook are those who either hold a managerial post at work or simply uninterested in their job during the day. People with too much time in their hand. It could be their way of sharing their thoughts with their friends but it was to me a little too much to bear when whenever I logged onto Facebook ALL I could see was anything and everything pertaining to GE on my Feeds.... So, I tell myself, nevermind bear it through it will all be over very soon. Just when I thought I was gonna make it safely pass May 7th, something really depressing happened. I lost a friend all thanks this election; he has gotten so emotionally involved that I think my xxxx didnt really went down well with him. Now, I do not think that I will ever talk to him again which is a pity -- not that we were so close but at least we did gotten along quite well before this saga. I guess like what I had told moo2 and gavin, I cannot please everyone and when I do lose that one friend, well maybe it was meant to be.

For some reason, today while I was walking towards the voting location, my kindergarten childhood memories suddenly came into my mind. The only mental visual I had then were these three alphabets, PAP.

I was unaware of the Taylors effect until I was at the cinema watching this show - Valentine's Day. Friday afternoon, 4pm show, school kids (girls mostly) inside the cinema utter girly 'screech' to the Taylors' appearance. I was like "Did that just happened?". (The last I can recall movie goers getting overly emotional letting out admirable applause inside the cinema was more than 20 years ago watching 賭聖, when 周润发 made a guest appearance in final scene.) I think it is a good sign, it is consoling to see people getting passionate, in this case, over movie stars / singers.

For me, I was more excited to see Julia Roberts, then again I am 36 liao... she is more my era one :D
She look the SAME as she did 20 years ago.

I had my wisdom tooth removed today and it was painless. How amazing. I was at the dental early morning 9:30 am and the dentist was late for 15 mins but when he arrived he was very friendly and very soft-spoken, at that point I knew I was in safe hands... This idiot today from Equity is the second most irritating person I have ever met during an interview. All full of himself. w/o even a proper greeting, he just sat there, like an elephant, too heavy to move a inch. Not even a handshake. Nevermind. And thru'out the entire meeting, there was no smile, nor comments - good or bad. The only conversation we had was brief and unpleasant. He doesn't listen, and nor was he even interested to hear from me. His statements were biased and to certain extend, silly. No, stupid. I had wanted so much to just stand up and leave. Born into an extremely wealthy family, Pan was raised in West Virginia, United States and later moved to Taiwan at the age of seven. He attended Taipei American School and graduated in 1999. Because of his multicultural background, he is fluent in both Mandarin and English. However, Pan is unable to read and write Chinese. Before launching his acting and singing career, he attended Cal Poly Pomona in the United States, but dropped out for poor grades. Ah pui's condition hasn't really improve every much still as his eyes are still rather sore and infected. Poor doggy. I need to feed him anti-botics via a syringe every morning and mother will feed him in the evening. The doctor said he will only recover very slowly... But at least he is back to his jumpy self again now.

He needs a jab every once a week for eight times...

As much as possible I would like to not mention design in this blog but I cant help but to post these posters. I think they are excellent, so direct and effective. I m speaking from a gay man's point of view, I can so relate to it.

They are clear in their message w/o being crude with the visuals. No beautiful boys posing silly looking pretty for the sake of being pretty, and they uses real people san-makeups or hairstyling.

The tagline is often the make or break factor to a campaign and this one absolutely caught my attention. "DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW?" I am a sucker for out-of-the-box solutions and because often in local commercial art, your sales will be caught up with proper English so that they can sell a concept to clients. I have had enough of "Does it read right?", "Do people get it?", "Something's not so smooth with the way it's being phrased" blah blah blah.... To hell with those. I m more concern with making people think after reading than, with the politically correct presentation of the wordings.

Of cos, with such tasteful use of typography, it's just great icing on the cake.

This round to Taipei inside my shopping list was the OST of 白色巨塔 because I love one of the songs inside sang by 阿桑 -- 跟我說愛我. When we were at Hong Kong I actually saw that OST but I didn't get it because it was close to S$50.00! I took the risk and decided to only get it in when I am in Taipei -- was only 300NT or so. I was so lucky to have found it. This morning when I was walking to the MRT station, I heard over the radio that singer 阿桑 had passed away due to breast cancer :( She had such great voice. A pity.

Taipei - Sunday (Food Edition)

This restaurant is actually very near 忠孝东路四段－川妹子
Supposedly SzeChuan, it tasted really Singaporean to me because it is very much ZiCha 煮炒 style and very heavily spiced with chillies and soya sauce.
Look at these fried beancurds... picture speaks a thousand words... Yes, those were cooking oil floating around the sides but it really doesn't taste as oily as you imagine it would be, in fact you barely taste it.
This one is a cold dish - forgot the name. I think we can get this in SG, cold chicken meat with peanuts and sesame seeds, and flavored with red chopped chillies; it is made up of 50% veges (underneath) so as the best way to eat this is one bite of meat with one bite of vege. I m not a big fan of cold dishes but this one is an OK for me. An extra 5 points to the beautiful Orchid for garnishing :D
I m not kidding about the rice, it really tasted like how those cooking shows would describe their professionally prepared rice - smooth textured individual grain and yet well put together w/o being too sticky. I hate sticky rice or rice that are too wet... this is just about right
This one is York's recommendation and i figured it was his favorite dish. It is a typical Chinese dish - you just need a little helping of this and you will fill yourself w two mouthful of white rice, and you will immediately feel the urge to want to get another helping.... vicious circle! This IS what I call the killer dish - for people on a diet please dont try this, you will be carb overdosed before you know it :(
Credit must definitely go to York Li.
I am sure this is in my must-go list for all future Taipei trips!

Taiwanese are so polite inside train stations - something I think I will never ever see in Sg's train stations - not in a million years! How strange. Both are heavily chinese populated countries yet 一个天一个地 What a SHAME! :(

I remember I first tasted 鸡排 (HAHHA....! Sounds really vulgar) when I was in NS. Also in taiwan, but the degree of spiciness then is something to these days have yet to be matched.

He look so much more energetic than me in this picture, I was almost a walking zombie already from the lack of good quality sleep and from the lack of my usual doze of home-made coffee....

After watching A*Mei concert in Taipei, I dont think I will ever enjoy myself that much anymore watching any other concerts in Sgapore. My conclusion: Singaporeans need to loosen up, alot!

We are on my way to 九份 Looking really fresh for our first day out to enjoy Taipei

We almost lost our way inside the train station - picture Amazing Race with a bad wrong turn and we have to walk one huge circle to get back to square one to realised that we couldve turn left and we will be on the right track!

I really like these few pictures - a breakfast-day really make a lot of difference. You'll see....

Went back to the same teahouse as Mr Tai prefer this one. We saw a few other PLUs inside the same teahouse and of all places... they were also Sgaporean. Eddy apparently can smell Singaporeans from miles away hehehe...

On our way back to the city and it was almost 4pm-ish... cold and hungry

After a whole day of walking and bus rides, it was good to be back in the city and after a quick wash up, we headed out to Ximending for dinner

A little walk around Ximen Ding... They have a rather interesting traffic system, at a cross-road, cars come from all directions and you almost dunt know where you can or cant go. At here, I saw a gay couple holding hands and they look so comfortable, I just stood there for like two seconds and I think they saw my shock face :D "Taipei 好OPEN喔！"
